Short description of project
Implementation of the project which is based on the systematic investigation of the invasive alien species in Slovenian and Croatian part of the Sava River would enable development of the joint strategy for the monitoring of the invasive alien species in transboundary waters of Croatia and Slovenia. Strategies for monitoring of invasive species include making of the data base of the invasive species distribution, implementation of the standardized field protocol for monitoring and joint systematic estimation of the biocontamination rate. Collected samples, together with the habitat characterization, would enable estimation of the main factors which affect distribution and abundance of the invasive alien species along the Croatian and Slovenian part of the Sava River. That analysis would be upgraded by the data collected through the Croatian-Serbian bilateral project on invasive species of the Sava River. Pooling of all these data would enable estimation of the biocontamination rate along whole course of the Sava River.
