Short description of project
Implementing collision detection and physical models on industrial devices This project topic involves researching different algorithms for collision detection which can include bounding volumes based algorithms, space partitioning methods with quad/oct/kd-trees, the GJK algorithm, etc. The second part of the project would involve implementing a physical model that defines the behavior of colliding objects based on the material the objects are made of, their mass and the movement speed and direction at the time of impact. A third part consists of implementing a set of controls that allow the user to move objects in the scene which are affected by the implemented physical model. All the different phases of the project could be implemented in parallel by using already existing methods for the previous stage of the project  that are present in the Unity engine. For example for the physical model implementation one could use the collision detection support from unity and for the user controls implementation the whole physical model of Unity could be used directly. All the implemented methods should be applied on 3D models of two measuring devices used in the automotive industry, the AVL Micro Soot Sensor and the AVL Fuel Exact.
