Short description of project
Croatian wood flooring industry produces high quality wooden floors, but lacks some formal preconditions to take its rightful place on the EU-market. From that arises a need for enhancement of the existing factory production control system. The close date of Croatian accession to the European Union highlights the importance of improvement of the existing factory production control systems, and wood flooring industry is no exception.  On a project worth almost half a million Euros, under the name „ Enhancing EU-competitiveness of Croatian wood flooring industry“ the Laboratory for wood in construction of Faculty of Forestry, University of Zagreb (LDG) collaborates  closely with Croatian wood flooring industry.  Alongside the development of new testing methods, the above mentioned funds will also be used for financing the refurbishment of the Laboratory for wood in construction, education of employees in the industry and interlaboratory cooperation with the Technical university Graz and Biotechnical  university Ljubljana. The main goal of the project is the building the capacities of LDG in order to improve the collaboration with industry, development of new methods used for testing the properties of wooden floorings, upgrading the existing factory production control systems, and last but not least, enhancing the EU competitiveness of Croatian wood flooring industry on the EU market.
