Creating link between Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology (FKIT) and Loughborough University will enable mobility of postdoctoral researchers with the aim to facilitate exchange of information, ideas and knowledge. The goal of this project is to provide a base for long-lasting partnerships, facilitate transfer and establishing of technologies in Croatia, and enable strategic definition of researcher (development of research domain – specific kind of research) and in that way strengthen FKIT in three strategic areas: New materials and new production processes – knowledge based materials with new functionalities and improved properties. In this project main work will be concentrated on improvement of mechanical properties of polymer materials. Nanotechnologies and nanoscience – represent new perspective new materials and technical sciences, as well as designing of instruments and processes. In this project main work will be concentrated on use of precipitated calcium carbonate and other nano fillers. Environment and sustainable development – healthy environment and improvement of quality of life requests collaboration between everybody: public, private and civil sector. In this project main work will be concentrated on investigations of use of polymer blends for plastics recycling. Raising FKIT research capabilities in the field of new advanced multifunctional nanomaterials should be accomplished by mutual research on equipment for surface characterization, advanced thermal methods, electron microscopy, and X-ray. Raising FKIT research capabilities will enable development of new research areas (especially surface characterization) and through graduate and postgraduate programs, research with other research institutions and industrial partners, accomplish raising of research competence in industry and public sector.
